Oxytocin is made in the hypothalamus, then stored in and released by the posterior pituitary.
Calcitonin is released by the thyroid gland, not the parathyroid glands.

  10. great video. glands make hormones which are either tropic hormones – work at a distance from the gland that made them, local have direct effects on itself, and hormone stimulating hormones. Usually the hypothalamus is involved and this then is in relating to stimulating proteins called cytokines or myokines that act both locally and at a distances from stress -> to myokine/cytokine production. there are 3 main types of hormones and many glands that make specified specific hormones of peptide, steroid, or ammine types.
