  1. good info here, im getting my first ball python on wednesday, a gorgeous young Black Sabbath (mahogany/mystic) male. He will be named either Ozzy or Iommi. the breeder recommended I start him off in a 10 gallon, but im going to go with a 20 gallon hign. not even that much bigger but at least i should be able to establish a proper temp gradient. not everybody has a warm enough room that they can get away with just bellyheat and no supplemental overhead heat.

  2. Loved the video. Commenting so it’s no longer on 666 comments. You’re welcome.

  3. Could you do a video going over the cost of owning a ball python per year, not including initial setup? I love snakes & I’ve wanted to get one for a few years now but I want to be responsible:)

  4. I get the non eating part ours just had a 39 day hunger strike. But the substate was changed from repti bark to coco husk, went back to that and she ate immediately

  5. Great vid. Really appreciated. Only thing you missed was lifespan. Otherwise superb. Thankyou.

  6. I have corns, excited to get my BP this week! I wanted an albino I found but my husband wants a certain banana we found. I have heard bananas are one of the chillest? Probably going to get the banana as I have decided on all our other pets 😂 can’t wait thanks for all the updates!!

  7. Just got my third ball, and i love watching the more up to date research so I can make sure he’s happy and healthy. He was born July 5 so he’s still a baby. So excited to see him grow!

  8. I’m thinking about getting a ball Python, probably adolescent. Is
    Depth: 17 L: 36 W: 12 a good size for a tank?
Could you suggest me a cheap but better tank if it’s not good enough?

  9. The more space the better ! Some people give there snakes less ! U got awesome set ups

  10. Would you consider doing a video about how to decide if a BP is right for you? I love all the informational videos I'm finding, but I'm struggling to find anything about how to determine if this snake is right for my home.

  11. Uhh my ball Python is trying to bite me and I just put him in a new cage do you know what’s going on I really need to know.

  12. I just got one (ball python) it was my friends but he passed… She is in her cave most of her time, I think she is shedding because of her eyes (gray)… I'm just learning so she can be comfortable and happy

  13. i'm getting a bp tomorrow, she's 25 and her previous owner moved out of his parents house and didnt want to take her with him, his parents dont want it and so i'm getting it for free. the only real downside is that the only thing she'll eat is live albino mice, so that'll be fun.

  14. Hey Adam, i’m looking to get a baby ball python and had a question about the enclosure. Can I start them in a 120 gallon right away or should I work up to that as they grow? I’m also located in the gta are there any breeders you recommend I go to?

  15. Thank you so much for posting this!!! I just got a new ball Python and I was finding so much conflicting information online about ideal humidity and temps. My ball is taking a little longer than my corn snake did to settle down and I was really worried there was just something drastically wrong with his tank.
This video just really reassured me that I should just chill and wait for him to calm down. 😅

  16. I absolutely LOVED this, your absolutely incredible and very knowledgeable. Thank you so much!

  17. My BP has only eaten once this year but he’s still got a good weight. If anyone has any tips they would be appreciated. He eats thawed multis.

  18. Thank you for doing this video. As my daughter won't listen to her own mom. Lol. She just needs a three year new knowledge upload.

  19. I've wanted a snake since I could remember. Finally at 28 I'm ready to make the jump and was fully overwhelmed by how much the info has changed over the years. This video was great and really helped me feel less freaked out while I continue my research. Much appreciated!

  20. Looking at getting my son and I ball python. I was gifted a used 4x2x2 enclosure by a friend. If we bought an 8 month old can that snake be in the 4x2x2 when we bring him home or should he be in a small enclosure till a certain size?

  21. My ball LOVES to climb, love love loves. so many cut grape vine stumps in her cage she use them all!

  22. I just purchased a bp from a frien who cant take care of him anymore. I have to get him an enclosure. These standards are high and Im a bit intimedated about the expanses. I do know I like a elongated enclosure vs a horizontal one. Any tips?

  23. How often can I handle a ball python? Or keep one out of a tank? Does a heat lamp work as a light for them?

  24. What size of enclosure are you keeping Pikachu in for him to reach that 5-foot size? One of my best friends has a male ball python that's currently 4 feet 8 inches, and he just upgraded from a really long tub to a full-blown enclosure. My roommate has a male as well that's a year older than my friends snake, but he's only 4 foot. My older sister, when I was growing up, had a female ball python around 5'10 and a BCI that was 7 feet. Seeing a BCI only being just over a foot longer than a ball python was pretty comical

For my sisters python to reach the size she did, my Dad had custom built her a 5 x 2 enclosure once she got around 3 feet from what I was told. My sister's ball python was one mean ……. lady and was actually the reason why I was nearly peeing my pants terrified of snakes from the age of 8 – 20. An 11 foot boa contrictor named Skye, who was 45 pounds, was the first snake I was willing to hold in my entire life and now looking into getting my first snake after handling many friends' snakes.

  25. That Justin Trudeau meme was hilarious 😂 greetings from Southern Ontario

  26. Speaking moistly 😂😂😂 great video man thanks about to get my first snake pet and your videos really help thank you

  27. All the controversy around spider balls, what’s your opinion on the leusistic morph?

  28. Great video, Adam! You touched on enrichment but didn't much go into save mentioning having alot of clutter. Enrichment is so important to any creature. I'm going into year 4 of keeping these amazing animals, by many standards I'm still a newbie. I'm a hobby breeder but I don't ever want to be huge, I want to keep it small and personal. I want my babies going to homes to be confident and less fearful so I'm really exploring the whole enrichment routine. I'm also hoping to make some changes this year to my adults. I keep in racks but I'm going to be one of those odd-balls who offer my adults enrichment as best I can. I've always tried to treat all my 70ish snakes as pets, letting them out if they are amiable to that. There's so much more to these wonderful animals than people have ever realized! Thanks for all you do for the animals and the hobby!

  29. You normalizing the hunger strike made me feel so much better. Mine doesn’t eat the whole winter pretty much besides maybe twice. Then come spring, eats weekly like clock work.

  30. I am thinking of getting a young ball python but can I have him live in a 40 gallon even when he is young. Because I heard a young ball python can be stressed if you put the snake in an enclosure that is too big but will he still be stressed if he has enough clutter and hides?

  31. I LOVE MY BALL PYTHON LIKE I LOVE MY FURBABY.. but omg that eating issue causes me to age 10 years every time. He WONT eat frozen thawed. At all. So I basically go through the trauma of killing rats for no reason. WHY MUST U BE THE ALMOST PERFECT SNAKE. 😩

  32. Thank you so much! Before I get my Ball Python though, I’d like to know how big of a tank I should put a baby in?

  33. I have a question I have a three month old ball python and she hasn't been eating going on 3 three weeks but idk what to do is this normal

  34. If you can’t do larger than 40 gallon then make sure you pull them out and walk around your house. They can see and hear. This enriches their lives. I have two Corns and a Blue Lucy Ball. I let them climb on me while I move about my home. They feel like they are exploring and are happier for it. And I get it you’re probably like how do you know? Well they don’t squirm when I reach into their terrarium to grab them. And how many occasions they come to me.

  35. So I did a thing. I bought my ball python, Monty a 150 gallon enclosure. He loves it. I did it because he is part of my family, and I only give my family the best. He moves around a lot. Not used to seeing a ball move so much.

Edit: He has been semi-aborial since buying new things for him to play with. He's only a few months old, and almost never spends time in a hide (he has 3)

  36. Genuine question: where do you recommend putting a python enclosure? Are rooms with high activity bad ideas and should i put them in a quieter room or does it not matter? I wouldn't want to put it in a high traffic area and stress it out but I'm just double checking
