The Bambu Lab A1 features a 256x256x256mm build volume and many of the usual offerings of a modern 3D printer. This includes a touch screen, wifi connectivity, on board time-lapse camera, and connectivity to the Bambu Handy mobile app. The Bambu Lab A1 can be purchased with the AMS-lite as a combo kit or without. In either configuration it is a great value machine.
The Bambu Studio slicer is also well equipped with a ton of material presets for very popular filament brands and the profiles are well tuned for those brands such as eSun, Polymaker, etc. As you should expect, the Bambu Lab branded filament prints excellent on their own machines.
Featured in this video are all of the prints below which you can find on Bambu Maker World.

Overall, I would recommend the Bambu Lab A1 for beginner and advanced users alike. If you can afford the higher end models like the P1S or X1C I’m certain they will perform even better and you will be able to print more advanced materials that require an enclosure. However, the A1 is great value, and if you don’t need the AMS-Lite system you can also save a lot of money.
Bambu Lab is producing nicely polished machines with less user-development and upgrades required than other brands from what I can see. They’ve done a very nice job of trying to make 3D printing as easy as possible at this stage in the technology.
If you are new to 3D printing I still think you should have realistic expectations of the learning curve involved with the hobby. The machine works well out of the box but if you happen to run into issues you will likely get frustrated at first. Take a deep breath, stick with it and don’t give up! It doesn’t matter if you have a Creality, Bambu Labs, or any other popular high speed printer of this era, eventually you will need to do some troubleshooting. Stick with it!

I bit the bullet and just ordered an A1 with AMS! Replacing my old Ender 3 Pro I purchased about 6 years ago… if you can call it an Ender 3 still with all the mods and jank I added to it.
Even though I'm not quite a beginner, the price of this printer was the #1 attraction. Automatic bed leveling, multi color printing, built in camera and app for monitoring, touch screen display, wifi connectivity.. the list goes on and on. I always thought you had to spend $1000+ for a printer with all these features so when I saw this for >$500 I was amazed. After seeing you guys say all good things I couldn't resist… Can't wait for it to arrive!
Imagine your negatives all stemming from not having a clue on networking and the caveats of hotspotting and creating a wireless network using a mobile device especially in your case not having a physical internet address to establish a geolocation.
Anytime you have issues with wireless banding, all smart home and cnc decices suing esp chips they use 2.4 due to limitations on 5ghz, setup a hot-spot using same WiFi details as your router, once it connects turn off hot-spot, restart device and it will pick ssid on router.
Only reason qr code on printer screen gave wrong location as an actual.physical location wasn't determined due to hotspotting so in bambu case China is default
after watching about a billion reviews about this printer i am farely sure i want this printer.
Jump in the google network and block the mac address for it on the 5ghz band
Thanks for the video, very good. I should have watched it before i got my rpinter hahs, save me time running into learning curves then going to YouTube.
Thanks for a 240p quality that you can’t change😆
Idk if I should get the Bambu A1 or the A1 mini? Can u give me the major differences instead of the small ones? Thank you if u respond EmbraceMaking
What camera are u using to film prints? Seems to run indefinitely. The built-in camera states that it pauses for the time lapse, and I would rather not have the printer pause because I’m impatient. Lol
Thanks for the excelent video.
11:16 I would agree, but then i saw a video of a guy who strung up his bambu lab printer with a string to his ceiling. If i remember correctly, it had basically no difference to print quality. 😉
Great video, very well explained but I have an ick… Please for the love of all that is sacred close those damn tabs on your phoneeeeee
Saying ams system is like saying chai tea or led diode
That was pleasant to watch ! and very instructive awaiting the receipt of my last order 😃 Thanks
Could you make a video going over your process for calibrating/tuning different brand filaments for this printer?
Thanks for the great video 🙂
It would be REALLY nice if Bambu Labs were to offer a spool exchange of some sort and not waste the RFID chips in used spools by throwing them out. Do something like SodaStream does with their CO2 bottle exchange. This way Bambu Labs could just reuse the old spools with the same color on it as before and just resell it and maybe give you as the consumer $5 off your next purchase for each spool you return. You could even return the used spools in the same box your new spools come in. Bambu Labs could even include a shipping label that bills them for the return to make things easier. Using a cash-on-delivery (COD) label pre-printed in the box with the new spools would also be a better option than prepaid shipping labels as not everyone will take advantage of that or have any spools to return. It would be pretty simple to implement and they could advertise as an even more environmentally friendly company.
I have the Bamboo A1, not the combo. Is there a way to use multiple filament without keeping to swaping out. I see 4 slots…. I can only do 1 color swap at a time.
i havent tested the wifi yet but the usual fix is go into the router settings and force it to be a 2.4ghz network only, setup the device in question, then set the router back to normal. other 2.4ghz only devices work using that method.
How about purge to fill?
Can’t wait to get mine. Thanks for the great video
Does the A1 combo come with a hardened steel nozzle for printing abrasives like metalic and glow in the dark filaments?
Hey @Embrace Making, great video! I noticed your tree supports are pulled off with ease, without leaving any nasty areas behind. Do you mind sharing your support settings or do you have a video on that?
toyota model looks BAD ! Coloured prints demand a LOT of printime . A ludicrous amount of time…IF being Honest.
Should I get the combo or just the regular version
i wonder why no support for Inland Filament seeing that Micro Center Sells Bambu Labs.
Thanks for the great video. I’m looking to get the Combo for a Christmas present to myself. I will be watching this again as I set mine up.
What a fantastic demonstration and review. Thank you 😊
Question do you have a video on how to add your logo to the print ? 19:25
Mine arrived today and is sitting in the hallway for me to build tomorrow so thank you for the video. I am not new to printing but was getting fed up with the amount of work I had to do with every print, same print, same settings, same filament and something would go wrong that I would have to tweak. So bad in the end I gave up printing. I'm hoping this will jump start me designing and printing again. I got the combo in the current sale and with 3 spools and 2 hot ends was still cheaper than my last printer.
Your WiFi problem is related to your router not a printer. In my case Amazon's Eero has an option to pause for 10 minutes 5GHz frequency for pairing a 2.4 GHz device. Very useful to add new WiFi automation devices.
Brilliant. Thank you!
The best way to deal with Google Nest Mesh Wifi 2.4/5 ghz problem is to set up a Guest Network in the Google Home app. Guest Networks for Nest Mesh always defaults to 2.4ghz instead of switching back and forth. That's the only way I can hook up most of my older wifi enabled devices. Thanks for the great video!
Error at 14:45, the printer does NOT give you a pin code to enter into those boxes. It only shows a QR code that must be read with the mobile app. If you do not use the app then apparently you're shit out of luck and can't use this method.
You can try to switch to LAN Only mode but if your LAN isn't connected to the internet then again, apparently you're shit out of luck.
So looks as if everyone must either construct your work space, and configure your local area connection and internet connection how Bambu Labs wants it set, or piss off.
