  1. Hey Adam, tell me why I was banned from your discord server Bc your admin didn’t like that I defended someone they were talking shit too Bc of their own opinion, I didn’t break a single rule and I was a nitro booster yet to Asura your admin I “didn’t matter” and had “no value” in your server :/

  2. Would love to see an enclosure build video! I always find those to be super inspiring and helpful

  3. No night drop even for the Sonoran/Leopard boas that are used to relatively cold and dry environment during the night?

  4. Dude… literally been doing so much research in search of my first boa and it’s care. Then this video comes out. Crazy. Brian’s boas is an absolute encyclopedia but it’s cool to see another style video

  5. General consensus on my local communities at this point is 65-75% humidity is ideal for shedding and respirator my health. Stuck shed starts becoming a symptom around 60% humidity, and sustained humidity over 80% runs risks for things like rot, bacterial infections and the like

  6. I can’t name a single thing that I dislike about boas lol I can’t say the same about other species 😅

  7. 🤣🤣🤣 you finally got to post this. How long have you been waiting, like a year at least? 😂😂😂

  8. My boa, a male bci named Kevin Snacon, will be 2 years old in September, and he's already about 4ft long.
This is a wonderful care guide for what in my opinion is the best pet snake.
Keep on being awesome my dude. 😁

  9. I've been wondering, in regards to my BCI Shiloh, it is usually more advised to take him out of his enclosure to socialize, right? I mean, I want to listen to Lori Torini's advice, that I should not interact with my snakes unless they appear to want to. She is the one who studies behavior, so I trust her! But, I worry that since my BCI will be a LARGE snake, I should probably make sure it's used to being picked up a certain time of day, right? I am trying to get safer things for him to climb and such, so I don't have to force him off things. My ball python doesn't hold on too tight so it's easier with her, but Shiloh is strong and it leads to uncomfortable situations he probably associates with interaction…

  10. Loved the video even though I don't even have a snake. Btw I would love to see a boa enclosure build vid!

  11. What kind of BCI is Fanny? I love the contrast of body-to-tail contrast… but i thought Fanny was a BCC.

  12. The substrate that works great for me and is cheap is a mix of 70% peat and 30% play sand.

  13. Yes, boas eat like boas. We have 14 other snakes. We thaw our BCI food AFTER we see which of our other snakes do not eat, because the BCI is the disposal of unwanted meals….

  14. Definitely check out Brian Boas if you're interested in Boas at all. He makes great videos on everything about Boas

  15. This was a very good video and Lucy is so beautiful 😍 (I didn't know her species so far.. so thank you)

  16. My 9 yr old bci's name is Lucy and she's just shy of 8ft and super chill.

  17. WOW these care guides are getting rough. First breaking down snakes and then spontaneously combusting them. 🤣🤣🤣

  18. One of my biggest struggles in setting up a large snake PVC enclosure was figuring out how to best secure perches inside it. Would be interested in seeing your methods (in a video perhaps), as I couldn't quite see all the details in the shots in this video.

  19. I find these Videos super interesting.
Do continue to give us such helpful Information please. =)

But some information I could really need is about shedding.
It's so difficult to find information that's not contradictive about shedding of snakes.
I searched for hours online even asked the community on discord but couldn't get a definitive answer…
So my problem: Since the end of January I'm a first time snake owner. I love my little hognose boy. But he hasn't shed once since I got him! He isn't even a year old jet.
He grew bigger, eats like a champ and ist getting more and more aktive lately. I gave him a humidity box and all but he shows no signs of shedding at all. It's been 3months now since I got him, even if he shed right before I got him, that's a pretty long time for a young Snake. At least by the standards of my research.
So at which point should I consider going to a Vet? I'm starting to really worry that something might be wrong with my little one.

  20. I'd LOVE an IMG boa, but they cost as much as a small car! It doesn't help that they always come as carriers of other morph genetics. Can't I get a straight IMG? Sigh. Woe is me.

  21. Thanks for recommending Brian Boas: he's the guru! Generally, I would advise a cool area of 75 to 78 farenheight, especially for boas from areas further from the equator. From observing my snakes, I am sure that offering them the ability to cool off is as important as the ability to warm up. Stating the obvious-no matter!

  22. About time you get around to the Boas. A boa will definitely be the next snake I get.

  23. I would just like to add that not all BC get 10+ feet. You should check out Brian Boas videos on the topic. Some suriname true red tails can be 5-7’. Lots of misinformation out there.

  24. I haven't really seen anything on youtube about bioactive enclosures for boas. I know it can be a challenge because they just flatten everything.Would love to hear more about it.

  25. Just an FYI, you have a Doppelganger on YouTube. His channel is called "Observe" I'm not making any accusations here, I'm just saying I've never seen you two at the same time. 🤷‍♀️

  26. Hey I hope you see this comment. I got a Caramel Het Albino Carpet Python fairly recently. He had his last meal March 8th, I got him from a private breeder. He left a note stating the birth date, last meal etc. I cannot get him to eat for me. He will be a year in June, quite nippy and strikes a lot. Doesn't move a lot in your hands when handling. Always hiding except for one day he was out most of the day. And most concerning is he's really skinny, no roundness to him at all. My vet isn't really setup to deal with reptiles much here so I'm stressing out because I'm not sure what to do. I have a feeling I'm going to lose him.

  27. Hey Adam, what's going on with your left arm? Is that a reptile bite? Great video! I have a Barranquilla locale BI and she is wonderful.

  28. Let's just all stop using peat moss. It is not a renewable resource at the rate we currently use it for non-essential things. It takes thousands of years for it to form to balance our current consumption.

Coconut products are a byproduct and if you know where to buy it, it's cheap.

I tried a few times to go fully planted, boas don't care or respect your time and expensive plants. Some creeping mosses and vining plants can survive the destruction of a boa. Creeping for, creeping grasses like fescue and kentucky if you have the light are fantastic. Even my youngest boa destroys her plants, she's over 100 cm and 620 grams and Pothos are still barely able to stay foliated in her arborial enclosure.

One thing to keep in mind. Young boas, neonates to subadults are very arborial. Their behaviour is more careful and certainly more predator avoidance oriented. Adults are certainly semi-arborial but because of their size are so much more confident with a size and mass to mmatch a number of fantastic books from the last few decades speak of thus but I didn't expect the effect to be so pronounce.

The bare minimum recommendations for horizontal space holds true, obviously more is better, but height is used by many individual boas. Do try to use stoutly affixed items if they are to support your animals weight: crashing in the middle of the night is disconcerting.

This was a great update, Adam!
Lucy is a pretty one, for sure! Franky/Franny is always a favourite to see.

  29. Boas are awesome. I didn't think I would want a boa. But then I had a friend of a friend looking to rehome hers. Unfortunately hers was too big for my 1 bedroom apartment. But I knew people at my local reptile expo that could take her on.
I love Argentine boas(BCO). If I were to ever get a locality, that would be it. I did end up getting a BCI. He's a hypo, motley, jungle. But his colors and patterns are gorgeous. And even better, he's an absolute puppy dog. So inquisitive and wanting to explore. He's never shown any signs of being defensive. I don't know that I've ever heard him even hiss or huff at me. He's just the perfect snake.
