  1. I feel like the reason a 120G tank for a cornsnake is controversial is simply because they don’t always reach 4-5ft in length.
To my knowledge (official snake owner of 4 years but I’ve been around snakes since I was 3) the size of the enclosure is mostly based off a snake’s length, as they need enough room to fully stretch out but also not feel extremely exposed while exploring.

Obviously 20G is WAY too small, but 80G is completely fine if your corn only reaches 3-3 1/2ft. You don’t want to put them in too big a tank because they’re more likely to steer away from exploring, even if you have plenty of enrichment, because they’ll feel exposed. Plus, it’s way harder to balance the heat gradient in bigger tanks which can cause its own list of issues.

  2. we got our baby corn snake 3 weeks ago and just love him! he's been eating nice and easy, and he's so curious and playful. i didn't know that they may want to soak in their water sometimes. our reptile shop gave us a small bowl with their snake kits which isn't big enough for him to soak in. though i imagine he's not close to shedding yet, so perhaps we have some time to find him a bigger bowl.

  3. I have a 17 year old corn snake. I feed her every 2 weeks, and that works perfect for me, i treid feeding her once a week and once every 10 days, but she gained to much weight.

  4. i watched this video as research for my first snake a couple months ago, and i got my baby son, butters, at my local reptile store for 60 bucks. he's a butter morph he just turned 5 months old a week ago. he's super sweet and easy to handle. i really fully reccommend going to a reputable reptile specific store to purchase. i was able to talk to the breeder himself (he works at the store, but usually the reptile store will have contact with the breeder whose animals they sell..if they're a good store lol) and ask every question i could think of. he had been handling butters and his siblings since birth so even at 4 months old they were totally chill and well socialized. he eats very well, in common corn snake fashion.

  5. I just got a corn snake and it is AWESOME! He ate and that was also cool and I am so so exited to have him. He is a candy cane corn snake.

  6. Hello! I'm watching this in preparation to get my first corn snake hopefully this summer/fall. I have never had a snake before, I did however grow up with lizards. I'm 27 and am very excited as I have loved snakes my entire life (I actually just got a snake tattoo!)

  7. Do you recommend any kind of wattage for the heat lamp/ bulb? I can never seem to get my tank the right temp even with a heating mat under my corn snakes tank

  8. Hey just a question I have get a new enclosure our corn is now 7 months old n making a L in the tanks is in now how big do I need to get like 50 gallon for adult or 40 or I not the brightest lightbulb in the pkg sorry 😂

  9. Just acquired an adult corn about a month ago. She is cool but just hides all the time. Haven't seen her shed yet, but I'm thinking she's getting ready to

  10. I want a corn snake so bad but my parents say that they don't want a snake in the house. I can't wait till I'm 18 so I can move out.

  11. I live in CT and last summer i saw a 5 foot long really nice corn snake. It was just like yours!

  12. Does anyone have any good substrate without coconut in it, for someone who’s allergic to coconut? 😢

  13. I wonder if it would be possible for me to buy one that's a bit older rather than a very young snake. I'm almost going to turn 47 and I do worry that if it's several more years before I can even get a pet snake that it might outlive me. Maybe if I got one that was already half way through its life then that would be less likely to happen.
