Phase 2 – He’s in a permanent glory kill state. You can meathook + PB for all that armor back. But you’ll want
Phase 5 – Double BFG close, finishing off with a second of chaingun shield is becoming a favorite of mine!
A comment in the video below says that the boss possessed demons have 99.9% more damage resistance to BFG tendrils – so this means you’ll want to make that direct hit!
I’ve been a fan, as mentioned, of getting close. Even with the stun from the tendrils, 2 close direct hits is nearly enough to finish the pain elemental. Safer than far away maybe! I’m really liking that method!

microwave beam is gonna be your best friend along with the caingun shield if your plan falls apart, stun them for half a second with it and give yourself space to meathook away and regroup

Decino just posted a great vid breaking down the Spirit buffs per demon. Doesn't look like anything has specific resistances to Micro Missiles, could be a decent strategy for possessed big bois given their solid DPS.
This boss was more annoying than the kahn maykr mainly due to the spirited enemies and the blood maykrs. I still can't wait to fight the dark lord in part 2 of the dlc
I managed to beat UN in my second attempt(I had 5 HP left =)) ), but this video is really cool. It will help a lot of people achieve that golden skin. Thx for the awesome content as always!

This is a dumb question but in the second level how do you keep from getting slowed down and killing the pinkies? If you haven't done a video yet it'd be great to get boss tips on that level. I'm doing UV but one day I want to be cool like you and do Nightmare

Gosh, this boss gave me ptsd from my UN runs. Glad i did it in the end.
This boss widened my booty by 6 inches

I only have doom 2016 wish i had dlc
So for what I did during my encounter for the 5th phase was to BFG Pain Elly twice. Jump from pillar to pillar in either a clockwise, or counterclockwise motion, to keep the Dready focused on getting up or down. I then lock-on Pain Elly til stagger, then glory kill. Kill that spirit while watching my surroundings, I ignore the Blood Maykr entirely since I have trouble targeting his head on the fly. If my health and armor are low. I meathook super shotgun the zombies that constantly spawn until I get around 200 or 250 health in total(Obviously chainsaw when needed) . Then lock-on Dready knowing the Elly will be slower. It did take some getting used to, but I eventually defeated Samur without Sentinel Armor(because I feel like a baby using it). The runes I normally use are Air Control, Seek and Destroy, and Equipment Fiend. I do plan on trying the chaingun's shield and rune swap when need be for my current practice run, but overalll, I find that it this works for me, at least for now. But, I'm still going to practice before getting into extra life or ultra-nightmare for that matter.
I would really avoid using blood punch against possessed enemies. They dont stagger like regular ones so you're left open after a punch.
possessed don't have 99.9% damage resistance to bfg. In right final fight of maligog trial I always shoot a bfg on the 3 arachnotron wave and kill all 3 of them, despite the fact that one of them is possessed.
Dude this fight was so hard especially with trying to get used to mouse and keyboard
I just got the dlc and i wanted to ask you what your general thoughts are of its quality and difficulty
The second half of the fight is brutal, I had a LOT of trouble with it in nightmare
12:15 There are EYES. I died many times on my first playthrough on Nightmare to them, because I wasn't paying mutch attention on the battlefield.
Thanks a lot for posting this! I just died on my last UN run to the buffed marauder. I love the marauder as an enemy but he feels almost unpredictable when he’s buffed. Sometimes I can beat him just fine but on my UN run he absolutely kicked my ass.

Got to the last phase in my first UN run, panicked and died, wasn't happy about it lol.
Fortunately two more tries and I got it.

in the samur fight i learned that for all but one phase if you only kill one eye it wont respawn so you only worry about one eye, amazing video as always!
The most anoying thing for me was that he keep teleporting if you keep him on your sight .
Good strategies but the third phase (cacodemons and hazards) the one you featured in the video is gratuitous and you end up wasting more ammo than outright killing them. Personally I shot a stickybomb and then used flaming meathook to glory each, gives you 20 armor points even if you don't use the rune that speeds up glory kills as long as you attack from the front or side.

If you want a real kick in the ass, play on console. Its real fun on nightmare lol
I think that spirts have a resistance againt gernades and blood punch
Quick edit: if you only kill one eye it wont respawn till the other is killed

As you said, the last phase can turn into a mess if you don’t act quickly. That’s what happened to me. Luckily, there are enough fodder zombies spawning at the bottom, so I used Blood Fueled and one staggering head shot with heavy cannon per each zombie to replenish my HP. It felt like an intense catch-up game with both sides speed-buffed. I should thank these small guys for giving me a new golden skin.
Those extra lives I collected during my playthrough on the Holt really helped.

This fight kicked my ass HARD man! died like 30 times on the last phase! But I was so tired.
in this fight i finaly caught up why "unmaker is bad", i was playing just nightmare difficulty, and i tried multiple strats and this is what i found out, Posessed dread knight can survive 60 shots up close from unmaker. Pain elemental too, they realy gotta buff that gun though, i get it that BFG is like to wipe everything from map, but unmaker is to delete 1 particular enemy, in this game at least. But the further point in using it, or consider it, if this thing can't delete single possesed dread knight?
I found ignoring the Blood Maykr much more fitting to my playstyle. Though to be fair, even if I won UN on my first attempt, I came close to death BECAUSE of a Blood Maykr. I was killing off the second spirit with my beam then the Blood Maykr kind of glitched onto the pillar (which was one of the top top ones), threw one of its cross attacks at me. Thankfully it threw me off the platform, I managed to relock onto the spirit and keep it locked in my fall (that I softened with the dashes) and killed it just as it was about to get out of sight and lock range.
I was not serene as I used the Soul Sphere at the very beginning of the first phase from a super dumb mistake alongside the Saving Throw -_- I don't think my adrenaline ever got as high as that
Edit : Also yeah, the Samur spirits definitely seem to have different stats. At least different buffs. I don't know if the spirit themselves possess faster but they give better buffs to demon. A possessed Hell Knight in any other battles ALWAYS takes me 2 salvos of Rocket Launcher burst to kill whereas in this fight it's usually at least 3 but I think 4 and a SSG shot. Meanwhile the Mancubi doesn't look like it's as much buffed. It's definitely more buffed than other possessed Mancubus but not nearly that 2, 2.5x the Hell Knight gets (can't tell for Pain Elemental and Dread Knight I don't think I encountered any of these outside of this fight).
Dude on console you have the eyes going around on the last phase but pc doesn’t? That’s lame. More specifically on Xbox…dude not trying to be mean but this a dumb down version…me on ultra nightmare I just jumped in there with no strats and just “send it” and I can say that Console is so much harder than pc. crono strike for me just ruins the flow. I beat it on ultra nightmare on my 2nd attempt. For console don’t kill the blood angel just go for Samuel and go for the possess demons. I think I beat it on my 2nd attempt because I been playing doom eternal on nightmare ever since the game came out and been playing on Xbox.
Bro I did this on ps4 nightmare mode and damn those last 2 phases sucked ass.
