Phase 2 – He’s in a permanent glory kill state. You can meathook + PB for all that armor back. But you’ll want
Phase 5 – Double BFG close, finishing off with a second of chaingun shield is becoming a favorite of mine!
A comment in the video below says that the boss possessed demons have 99.9% more damage resistance to BFG tendrils – so this means you’ll want to make that direct hit!
I’ve been a fan, as mentioned, of getting close. Even with the stun from the tendrils, 2 close direct hits is nearly enough to finish the pain elemental. Safer than far away maybe! I’m really liking that method!

I was training for this last night. I discovered that if you're quick enough on the draw with the BFG at the very beginning of the phase, you can actually one-hit the pain elemental before he's fully possessed. Then you get to keep a BFG shot in your back pocket.
I’m on Hurt Me Plenty and I simply CANNOT beat this last phase. It’s so hard. This whole DLC is tough, but my God this last phase is ridiculous. You absolutely cannot cheese it at all.
I had to turn the difficulty down in the final phase to finish it. I really don’t understand how the devs expected the player to handle a possessed Pain Elemental while dodging a blood makyr. The number of times that I killed the spirit possessing the pain elemental and then the Blood Makyr did a slam attack and killed me was absurd. I’m never usually one to complain that something is too hard, but I feel like a lot of areas in this DLC put an unfair amount of pressure on the player, and this is boss is a good example
Fuck me this fights annoying. I nearly did on UN. The fact you have to stand still (obviously) to kill the spirits is the worse part. I was on the last spirit with a meat ball up my a55. Just about to the end of the spirit bar and I freezed the meat ball. Though the blood angel came up at the worst moment and killed me.
I could’ve smashed my whole rig up.

Jesus Jumping Christ. I'm not a Doom pro, and won't pretend to be. FPS isn't always my thing, I'm more of a Souls/Metroidvania kinda man….I've taken on some hard challenges in those kind of games. Pure Vessel, Radiance, Orphan of Kos, Midr, Gael etc…
But holy balls man is Samur making me his bitch. I flew through to phase 4, but I'm just getting my ass handed to me. It's almost entirely the fucking Blood Maykr as well, combined with Samur's ridiculous projectiles and the fucking eyeballs. I am very much suffering in this boss, and so far it stands at an hour and a half of game time. ON ULTRA FUCKING VIOLENCE.
The rest of the DLC was tough but manageable, but this, in my opinion, is the hardest thing I've had to do in the game so far. I refuse the Sentinel Armour, because that's a hollow victory, but goddamn….
Goddamn.
I'll do it, obviously, and eventually I'll do it on Nightmare, but I gotta say, as a Souls boy – a series infamous for tough boss fights – this is really tough.

this has got to be the worst boss breakdown i've ever seen. you talk 1000 mph, how is anyone supposed to learn anything from this?

This boss is so fucking cheap. I wouldn't mind it so much if there weren't those bullshit lasers and the FUCKING RIDICULOUS ELECTRO EYEBALLS. Those fucking eyes have an unrecognizable aoe damage field that is usually the only thing that ever seems to fucking kill me.
for me the meter on the plasma gun is automatically full

I'm so confused. Playing the game on the switch, and my 3rd round, on nightmare, and during the cacao carnival, I'm fighting Samur too…in your clip he's at the top just chilling. In mine he's on a pedestal shooting balls at me. The layout of the room is exactly the same. I've played the game up until this point on nightmare and haven't really struggled. On this fight, it's almost impossible. Cacao demons pressuring you, blood makyrs shooting you, blue spirit orbs hitting you if you get close, and Samur shooting his 3 balls at you. All while the platforms keep getting electrified. Keep getting pushed off the platforms from Samur blasts. Everytime I kill 2 cacao demons 2 more are right there. Blood Makyrs keep spawning and after shooting me are usually killed by the floor electricity. Tried getting creative but it's just an overhwhelming amount of blasts. After watching your video, I think my games messed up? I'm stumped honestly. Got on here looking how to beat it, and your phase is totally different than mine, I don't get it.
Edit: yep, game is bugged, watched 2 other videos of the fight and that's not at all whats happening in my game. Somehow the game got bugged to have phase 4 Samur be in the phase 3 fight. Or this is a secret phase? I dunno. But Samur is fighting me in phase 3. I kinda figured something was up because legit this part is impossible.
When samur is in his staggered state after killing the two spirits, does he stay like that forever or will he recover and spawn more spirits if you don't glory kill him in time? Also what should I prioritize and weapon switch between during the battlemode simulator part (pain elemental + dread knight) if I don't have any more bfg ammo?
Btw I love the name "caco carnival shooty games" so much, it's beautiful 🍝🥺

I'm very late obviously, and I haven't tested it much, but I wonder if bfg then unmaykr on the pain elemental is the way to go. Slow him down a bit with the bfg then lay into him with 30 shots of the unmaykr and he'll be dead for an easy spirit kill. Not sure what others think

I followed this guide to the tee and it worked great until the last phase. Then it all went to shit. I dont really like this boss fight and its a shit ending to an incredible DLC.
You mention weapon resistance quite a bit? I didn’t know but I’m guessing some demons are resistant to certain weapons? If so is there a spread sheet or something so I know which demons are resistant to which weapons? Thanks !

Allstin : hey man, I am trying to drain the blue energy from this dude but I don't remember what to press when equipped with plasma cannon so that it can drain its blue energy out ?
This part of TAG 1 and the world spear master level are the only ones that i can't finish 💀💀💀 that part with the purple goo with armour in the top is crazy, these are the only ones I need to finish to have all the skins. BTW im in console

Hey Allstin, thanks for this. I’ve been trying off and on for 4 years lol. I beat TAG2 on ultra nightmare a few months ago, I’m gonna attempt the Holt this weekend. I have one save slot with the Holt on UN and the other two slots with completed nightmare games to practice over and over. That final phase of Samur is always difficult for me, because of nerves every single time. This video is extremely helpful. Chrono-strike is a good strategy. I can nail a blood maykr with the ballista at long range but I suck at hitting them with the PB.
