Among us was based on the thing (1982) so it's logical to say that the imposters come from invading the Skeld and not polus, it's confirmed that polus is NOT the impostor's home planet, and that they come from the Skeld (when among us first was starting out each map which was dlc had an explanation for it being there)
The story starts on the Skeld when a parasitic shapeshifting creature finds its way onto the ship, assimilating a crewmate..
The crew makes it back to Mira Hq, they know this thing exists, so they hope to take refuge from their headquarters "surely theres much impostors there" or something like that they said..
